On August 2, 2024, Rammohun Library and Free Reading Room will reprint and republish the book ‘Acharyya Ray Commemoration Volume’, published in 1932 on the occasion of Acharyya Prafulla Chandra Ray’s 70th birth anniversary. The price of this well-printed book of about 672 pages with many illustrations is Rupees1500.00 and Rupees 1200.00 for pre-release subscribers.

Rammohun Library & Free Reading Room (RLFRR) is celebrating 250th birth anniversary of the great social reformer Raja Rammohun Roy. The concluding ceremony of the year-long programme will be celebrated on 22nd May, 2022 when a commemorative volume on the reformer will be launched. Reprints of Roy's writings-many of which have been known to only a handful of people and his portrait by variuos artists will be part of the content.

Genesis

In 1904 some Bengali literatis of eminence were among the founding fathers of the Rammohun Library & Free Reading Room (RLFRR). The proposal to establish a library as a tribute to Raja Rammohun Roy, the great harbinger of the Renaissance in Bengal, was first mooted on 27th September 1886 in a meeting chaired by Dr. Mahendralal Sarkar at the City College Hall.

This institution is claimed to be unique and noteworthy in this country, "bearing the torch of reason and knowledge which the Raja Rammohun Roy had endeavored to inculcate in the mind of his countrymen for their enlightenment and uplifting"
